This fabulous long-lasting bar of soap has always been a staple product of mine – having tried endless drug-store products in my early teens which did more harm than good, after some long, hard thinking I decided to take a step into the world of Clinique.
Now, Clinique were actually the first ever high-end brand I bought in my teens, dealing with acne throughout my life has made a massive impact on my self-esteem and confidence and sometimes it gets to a point where I don’t go out – this is still happening now. Thankfully, I have learnt a heck of a lot about my own skin and skin care in general because of my ongoing skin issues and personally, learning about your skin becomes a natural process in life.
Being the first ever Clinique product I bought – you could imagine the excitement on my face, I literally couldn’t wait to get on the college bus home to try this – at this stage in my life I was still cautious on what friends and family would think of me being a skin care junkie, I suppose this was another confidence issue, mainly because I didn’t want my family to find out my sexuality, I just wasn’t ready.
I found the soaps protective case very handy and hygienic – after all, this isn’t any old soap and I definitely didn’t want any visitors using this precise soap as a hand soap after being to the toilet – can you just imagine.
None-irritating due to being SLS free; this gentle but powerful cleansing bar effectively cleanses without leaving that ‘drying-effect’ on the skin. Clinique has carefully added the correct dosage of Salicylic Acid inside the soap to help breakdown excess dead skin cells on the surface while reducing dry skin patches and flaky skin. If skin is unable to breathe then get ready to say a big hello to acne. Along with Salicylic Acid, Zinc PCA; works by moisturising the skin and regulating sebum production while having healing properties for acne and eczema. Caffeine; awakens the skin revealing a more fresher-look and finally Glycerin; a humectant, that acts as a moisturiser by absorbing water from the lower layers of the skin [dermis] into the top layers [epidermis] – impressive right!
On contact with water – the soap quickly turns into a creaming non-foaming lather enabling you to apply onto the skin. I found the product highly-effective at deep-cleansing my oily skin, leaving no residue once washed-off with warm water. After only a whole week of use, twice a day – I could see my acne was rapidly healing and the redness from my spots was less noticeable – my skin was on the road to ‘anti-blemish’.
