La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar SERUM that promises to reduce the appearance of pigmentation.
What is external + internal pigmentation and how can you protect the skin from further damage?
External Pigmentation
Increase levels of melanin from damage skin cells from too much sun exposure, acne or cuts + scratches that can change the pigment colour in our skins resulting to patchy, darker skin tones that usually mark leaving behind hard to remove pigmentation.
Internal pigmentation
That’s right! You can occur pigmentation internally from hormones, pregnancy (known as melisma), medication or illness. Birth control pills that contain estrogen play a big role on skin discolouration. Did you know that pigmentation can be hereditary?
The #1 prevention is simple – sun protection! I cannot bang on anymore on how important it is to wear sun protection everyday. Just because we’re not in the summer season or it isn’t a particular sunny day doesn’t mean you can lay off the sunscreen, not only it prevents pigmentation but early signs of wrinkles too!
Pigmentation can be treated + corrected if using the right product or treatment. I’m pretty excited to reveal and share my latest review on La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum with you.
How does the La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum work?
The La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum works by tackling un even skin tone + dark spots by working in the deeper layers of the skin resulting in a more uniformed luminous complexion – it’s time to say goodbye to dull complexions! The light luminous formula offers sufficient moisture without the feel of heaviness or oiliness.
La Roche-Posay states that this serum also provides long-term efficacy from 12 weeks of use! Now to me this sound like serious business talking, it will be interesting to see if this statement is true after reviewing the product for 12 whole weeks.
New evidence was found at L’Oréal Laboratories that dark spots don’t always originate at the epidermis surface.
What are melanocytes + melanotope?
Dark spots actually originate from melanocytes – pigment-producing cells that begin to rise up to the surface but remain invisible, melanocytes then produces excess melanin that rises + arrives at the upper epidermal layers becoming established – all very technical I know – the dark spots reoccur because of the overactivity of melanocytes. Now, melanotope (within the epidermis + dermis) remains dormant meaning the occurrence of dark spots. I’ve probably just bored the hell out of you just then (sorry!) but I find it really interesting on how all these skin problems occur, don’t you?
The La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum is formulated with active concentrated ingredients.
Phe-Resourcinol combined with Ferulic Acid + Ginkgo
A de-pigmenting ingredient that is 100 times more effective than kojic acid and is just as effective as 4% Hydroquinone – Hydroquinone is a skin bleaching ingredient that can potentially reduce dark spots + pigmentation. Ferulic Acid is a highly effective antioxidant while Ginkgo extract protects the skin from redness + inflammation.
LHA
Salicylic Acid has just got better! The genius kids at La-Roche Posay combined Phe-Resourcinol + Salicylic Acid together making my favourite ingredient 4 times as better than before! There’s some right serious exfoliating action going on here!
Niacinamide
Also known as Vitamin B3 improves the skins elasticity whilst enhancing the skins natural barrier function. This ingredient can also be found in our favourite cereals!
So, after baffling on with the nitty-gritty side of things I bet you’re all wanting to know if this product delivered or not? The answer to that is.. YES! I have been applying the serum twice a day, morning + evening and I can definitely tell a difference to my skins overall appearance:
- Luminosity suddenly made a welcome!
- Old + new acne scars began to fade from week 3 of continuous use.
- Skin was beginning to look fresher and more relaxed.
- The overall evenness of the skin improved.
The left picture below appears discoloured and patchy from a deep bruise on the bridge of my nose. As you can see, the right picture shows visible improvement from using La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum twice a day, morning and evening for a whole month.
The La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum has definitely made it at the top of my list purely because it truly does deliver! As the saying goes.. It does exactly what it said on the tin!
